Mesothelioma

                                Mesothelioma is type of cancer of the mesothelium.Mesothelium is an important protective lining which covers most of our body parts. Mesothelium is found in the sac lining the pleura and the lining of the abdominal cavity. It is caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibers. The mesothelium has two layers of cells. It produces a lubricating fluid that is released between the two layers allowing the beating heart,theexpanding lungs and the active intestine to move around within the body cavity.

                                Mesothelioma cases have spread and increased over the past 20 years and almost around 2,000 new cases are diagnosed every year.The first case of Mesothelium was first discovered in South Africa. Malignant mesothelioma is often termed as a dangerous disease with awful symptoms and a dismal outlook.Once diagnosed patients have a feeling of hopelessness because within 12 months of diagnosis,around 50% of patients die  and only a few survive and they too cannot live beyond two years.
