For the treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma, surgery alone cannot be effective. In recent years, multimodality treatment has become popular for a certain number of population.Cytoeductive surgery involves removing of all or almost all visible tumors and if required, with the help of a doctor, intraperitoneal chemotherapy or radiation can be performed. The long term survival of the patient depends on the completeness of cytoeduction.

Complete Cytoeduction:
CC-1 Nodules of less than 2.5 cm persists after cytoeduction .These nodules are penetrable by intracavitary chemothetrapy. So it can be termed as a complete one.
Incomplete Cytoeduction:
CC-2 Nodules persist after cytoeduction between 2.5 and 5 cm.
If the patients are having widespread disease, where surgery is not effective, palliation of symptoms may be done by debulking.
